La Malle des Familles – Lausanne Meets

Avatar: Séb Séb

La Malle des Familles – Lausanne se rencontre is a free, participatory, traveling project that aims to build connections between families and residents of Lausanne’s various neighborhoods.

The concept is simple: a large trunk filled with giant cooperative games, creative and sports equipment, parent-child challenges, and discovery activities travels from neighborhood to neighborhood. Set up temporarily in a park, a plaza, or a partner location, it becomes a meeting place where anyone can come freely, without registration, and at no cost.

What makes this project unique is that it turns residents into active participants in “La Malle.” Parents, children, grandparents, and other participants will not only be able to play and take part in activities but also share their own ideas and skills: learn a game from their childhood, propose a challenge, teach a creative activity, introduce a game from their culture, or simply play with people they didn’t know before.

A “Family Passport” will also allow children to keep track of their experiences: meeting a new family, discovering another neighborhood in Lausanne, learning something, sharing knowledge, or taking on a challenge with an adult.

La Malle des Familles aims to reach out directly to residents and create simple, spontaneous opportunities to talk, play, and spend time together.

Accessible to everyone, with a special focus on isolated families, single-parent families, newcomers, and those with limited resources, the project aims to promote diversity, intergenerational and intercultural exchange, and the discovery of Lausanne’s various neighborhoods.

More than just a trunk full of games, La Malle des Familles aims to be an opportunity for people to come together.

Let’s open the trunk. Let’s play. Let’s share. Let’s meet.
