This proposal was not selected because:

Hello,

According to the City, closing the quays during the summer has been beneficial, which is why they wish to repeat the initiative. The goal is to help create a city with high-quality public spaces and to reduce traffic. Developments such as those on Jordils and Pré-du-Marché are underway to achieve these goals. However, a redevelopment project for the avenue in question is not currently on the agenda.

Closure of the Ouchy waterfront up to the Olympic Museum

1. Context:

The closure of the Ouchy and Belgique quays on summer weekends has been a resounding success. Let’s take it a step further and dare to close part of this stretch annually.

--------------------

2. Proposal:

The first section of the Ouchy and Belgique quays could be closed (up to the Olympic Museum) year-round, at a minimum every weekend, but ideally year-round (365 days).

Trees could be planted along this stretch to create a peaceful, green space.

--------------------

3. Motivation:

The closure of the Ouchy waterfront up to the Haldimand Tower on summer weekends has been a great success and attracts cyclists, walkers, skaters, and others from far and wide. This creates an additional quiet zone in an area often drowned out by the noise of passing cars and motorcycles. Making this area pedestrian-only will enhance this stretch, particularly for all tourists heading to the Olympic Museum from Ouchy.
