Hello,

Thank you for your contribution to the suggestion box.

The City is closely monitoring the situation surrounding the sporting events of the two Lausanne-based Super League clubs. It strongly condemns the disturbances that can occur when certain rowdy fans travel in processions and the resulting disruption to the public.

These events are managed by City departments with the aim of minimizing the impact of these individuals’ disruptive behavior by providing support designed to calm tensions and limit damage to people and property, as well as noise and traffic-related disturbances. This situation is not unique to Lausanne. The City will implement, to the extent possible, measures to ensure these sporting events remain peaceful (through both prevention and enforcement), as they must, above all, remain a friendly and enjoyable experience for amateur athletes and families. It is with this in mind that sanctions have been imposed to curb certain behaviors—sanctions decided jointly by the City, the Cantons of Vaud and Geneva, and the Conference of Directors of Justice and Police Departments.

We hope these measures will help improve the situation in the future.

Ensuring public transportation operations in the event of an event at La Tuilière Stadium

Avatar: nadine nadine

Selected

1. Context:

A soccer match at La Tuilière = neighborhood residents held hostage.

--------------------

2. Proposal:

  • At least allow public transportation to run along the Plaines du Loup route on days when matches are held at La Tuilière. Currently, all traffic is blocked from the train station to the stadium to allow access for groups of fans. A solution must be found so that residents can return home.

--------------------

3. Motivation:

Residents are being held hostage: public transportation has been shut down (not to mention private vehicles). This is the fourth time I’ve had to walk from the train station to Blécherette—thank goodness I’m not 80 years old.

The deployment of police forces during these days is impressive: what is the cost, and who bears it?

Why don’t the clubs organize shuttle services for their fans that would keep Lausanne’s south-north routes clear, at least for public transportation?
