This proposal was selected because:

Hello,

Thank you for submitting this suggestion to the suggestion box.

This proposal has been accepted, and the City of Lausanne is already moving in this direction.

Hermitage Park is a true gem of the city of Lausanne. Residents can already enjoy a large orchard and the beehives located there. The park is constantly evolving, and the management plan calls for continuing to diversify it. Work is underway to expand the existing orchard with new fruit trees.

But that’s not all—the City of Lausanne also plans to create a pond in the downstream section in 2023. This pond will be a real asset for local biodiversity and will help foster aquatic life in the park. Visitors will thus be able to observe various animal and plant species, making their experience at the park even more enriching.

In short, Hermitage Park is a place for rejuvenation and relaxation in the heart of the city of Lausanne, which continues to evolve to offer new experiences to its visitors. The projects currently underway demonstrate the city’s commitment to nature conservation and the promotion of local biodiversity.

Selected

1. Context:

Hermitage Park already features trees and an apiary. It still has room for further diversification.

2. Proposal:

The development of Hermitage Park—a place of relaxation and nature in the heart of the city—is already a success. We just need to keep up the momentum and further increase biodiversity and the number of fruit trees. We could also create a pond.

--------------------

3. Motivation:

The City is committed to biodiversity and increasing food self-sufficiency. This park is a good example of this and also proves that we can combine practicality with enjoyment. There’s no need to have sterile parks (without edible plants) on one side and agriculture on the other. We can create parks that are both recreational and productive. Lausanne can do it!
