This proposal was selected because:

Your idea has been partially selected for the following reasons:

Thank you for this idea, which aligns with the discussions currently underway at the City of Lausanne and its Sports Department. The solution you propose has already been considered and, unfortunately, is not feasible. However, please know that the Sports Department is working on an alternative approach that would achieve the same goal: preserving this historic ramp while developing a street park that meets the needs and expectations of the majority. As of now, therefore, there are no plans to remove the ramp.

Vidy Vertical Ramp

1. Context:

Following a survey conducted by the La Fièvre skatepark regarding the Vidy vertical ramp, I’d like to propose an idea. I’ve been using this ramp for about ten years now. I trained extensively on this ramp until I became a professional athlete; this ramp is iconic, and many athletes from around the world know and appreciate it. As someone ranked 9th in the world in freestyle scooter, I believe I have enough experience to offer my expertise. It would be a real shame to remove a ramp like this when there’s only one left on the entire coast. What’s more, some young people use it a lot and would be deprived of part of their training if the ramp were to be removed.

The proposal for the skatepark would involve removing the ramp to build yet another street skating area, even though there are already six such areas in Lausanne. Unfortunately, there is only one vertical ramp left on the entire coast.

2. Proposal:

I therefore propose moving the ramp next to the bowl toward the volleyball courts

The purpose of this proposal is to gather input from and respond to residents who:

  • Would prefer to have a street skate area, which is a legitimate request since it’s more accessible to a wider audience

  • Aims to improve the quality of everyone’s ride

  • Would facilitate collaboration among all disciplines and support everyone’s training, allowing for development in various forms—whether in street skateboarding or on vertical ramps that are more challenging to ride;

  • It is a nonprofit organization.

--------------------

3. Motivation:

Our motivation is to preserve a ramp that is emblematic of Lausanne’s urban culture, as well as to encourage young people to ride both on the street and on vertical ramps. It would be incredible if the City of Lausanne made this effort for future generations and for those who have always known this ramp. Thank you for taking the time to read this; all the best to you.
