Bellevaux restroom, Motte stop

Avatar: Pilar Beltrami Pilar Beltrami

Selected

1. Background:

These restrooms have been closed for ages and serve no purpose.

--------------------

2. Proposal:

Since we can no longer put bulky items out on the street, we can no longer salvage small pieces of furniture and other items, because at the mobile recycling centers—even if there’s a table—few people put out items in good condition to give away, at least in Bellevaux.

This location would serve as a branch of the Bellevaux Free Store, which operates very well but lacks space for small furniture, shelves, etc.

Ideally, there should also be a social media page featuring photos of the products.

--------------------

3. Motivation:

To bring back this service that is so appreciated by the public—I furnished my home for a long time with everything I found on the street; there were truly some treasures there. We should also offer a program to keep people busy—whether they’re young people, retirees, or others. Provide everything for free to avoid waste. We could also set up a grain exchange, given the number of gardens in the area.

My motivation is also to bring people from other neighborhoods to Bellevaux—to donate items, to take them—and to expand upon what the Salvation Army already does, but for free, like the Bellevaux Free Store. This would give the neighborhood—which is already quite “eco-friendly” thanks to its gardens—a foothold in a progressive and modern economic system, and help it move beyond a somewhat outdated stereotype.

(We should really leave a small restroom in the renovated space for volunteers to use.)
