This proposal was not selected because:

Dear Madam,

Thank you for your proposal, which we have carefully reviewed and which has been evaluated by our staff.

We understand your proposal: a playground open to the public would certainly be greatly appreciated by families in the neighborhood.

After careful consideration, it is unfortunately not possible to implement your idea for the following reasons:

The existing private playground, funded by the Les Gnomes playgroup association, does not meet current safety standards applicable to public playgrounds (SN EN 1176). It should be completely replaced with structures that comply with standards and feature adequate safety surfacing. Portable playground equipment would not be permitted.

Finally, the future use of this building remains uncertain, as the manager of the playground may be eligible to retire in a few years, which is why the city is currently unable to invest in a new playground on this lot.

Thank you for your understanding and for this constructive suggestion. Best regards, Madam.

A space for play and a meeting place

1. Context:

Montblesson has no village square or gathering place

--------------------

2. Proposal:

The former middle school in the hamlet of Montblesson is now home to a daycare center, which also has access to the adjoining garden. The daycare center is open only in the mornings and outside of school breaks.

If the City of Lausanne agreed to build a nice wooden playground there—for the children and grandchildren of residents—and to install a few benches and/or tables where residents could gather, that would undoubtedly be greatly appreciated. The garden is fenced in, so it’s perfectly safe.

It’s entirely conceivable that this space could be made available to the daycare center during its operating hours, but that it would be accessible to residents outside of those hours.

--------------------

3. Motivation:

Montblesson has an increasing number of families with young children. This hamlet lacks a place where children can meet and play in complete safety. The gates to the schoolyard and the courtyard are now always locked, so they are no longer accessible to residents as they once were. As a result, there is absolutely no pleasant and safe space left for people to gather. To keep the hamlet vibrant, to foster social interactions, and to allow children to socialize with their peers, we truly need a space like a playground.
