Short description (in a few words)

We have printed 5,000 Swiss Calendars (Gregorian/Hijri), a 28-page full-color booklet in a luxurious A4 format. It contains important definitions in French, English, German, and Arabic regarding certain cultural and religious principles, as well as Swiss holidays and national and international public holidays. This information is intended for both young people and adults and is available in both print and digital formats so that every family member can have their own calendar.

The FARASAH Association is a small network of volunteers in French-speaking Switzerland whose goal is to support educational and cultural projects by strengthening existing ties within the community through an annual calendar (print and digital), a luxurious 28-page full-color A4 booklet, packed with ideas and information that facilitate living together, regardless of our origins and traditions—and has been doing so for four years now (multilingual: French, German, English, and Arabic).

This project aims to offer families in Lausanne—regardless of their traditions—as well as families throughout French-speaking Switzerland opportunities to gather over a snack (preferably traditional or homemade) to celebrate an event, whether local or from elsewhere, whether it appears on our calendar or not,

The event begins with a short lecture followed by a discussion, and concludes with singing, poetry, or slam poetry, depending on the event’s theme.

Your Request

Maximum amount awarded: CHF 3,000

BUDGET:  

The association pays the speaker 300 to 400 francs for an appearance lasting nearly 2 hours; the slam poet receives a maximum of 200 francs. Given our association’s limited resources, we were able to reach a compromise with the performers to pay them 300 CHF plus 50 CHF to cover transportation costs and a meal. We have also agreed with slam poets, poets, and singers on a fee of 200 francs for a performance lasting 30 to 45 minutes, plus transportation expenses and a meal. 

Budget for staff for a 10-month year: 

 (300 CHF + 200 CHF + 50 CHF) x 10 months = 5,500 CHF 

PRODUCTION:

Calendar already printed at the association’s expense: First print run of 5,000 copies, of which 2,000 are to be mailed in November. The remaining 3,000 copies will be distributed on a consignment basis in Lausanne stores to recoup the costs of production, printing, and editing. Postage costs total 3,700 francs (1.85 francs × 2,000 copies).  

URGENT NEED;

For this budget, we would like to receive a contribution of 3,000 francs solely to cover the shipping costs for our calendar or to cover the costs of the three events in the first quarter of 2023.
