Five Against Five: Sharing Linguistic Richness

Avatar: Chebel Fatma Chebel Fatma

Our Project:

Five Words Against Five

  • Sharing linguistic richness among Lausanne families through their native languages

  • Strengthens neighborhood ties and celebrates diversity

  • Win-win

Project proposed by:

  • The Association of Muslim Women in Lausanne (FML)

Summary of Your Project

  • Full description:

  • An educational workshop—learning while having fun—for families in the Forêt/Pavement neighborhood, in their native languages

  • Each time, one family introduces and teaches the others 5 or more new words... (Tamil, English, French, Arabic, Indian, Albanian, Italian, Portuguese, Somali.................)

  • Neighbors helping neighbors—if there’s a need to translate documents from a foreign language.

  • A small gift at the end of the workshop for the family leading the session.

  • Location: Pavement, Forêt, Bellevaux, at the Community Hall, Route de Pavement 47, 1018 Lausanne.

  • Target audience: Families from the neighborhood and their children

  • Schedule:

  • The first Sunday of every month (each month we celebrate a different language)

  • Have fun while learning that diversity is a treasure.
