1. The project in a nutshell
“Saveurs du Monde” is a cultural immersion project designed to enable children ages 5 to 15 to discover the richness of different cultures through their history, art, music, and, above all, their cuisine.
2. The Project’s Objective
Promoting Integration: Facilitating the integration of children from diverse backgrounds by providing them with a space for learning and sharing about world cultures. This aims to encourage acceptance and mutual understanding from an early age.
Preventing Racism: Educating children about the richness of cultural diversity to combat stereotypes and prejudices that can lead to racism. Through the discovery and appreciation of differences, the project aims to sow the seeds of tolerance and respect.
Encouraging Inclusion: Creating an inclusive environment where every child, regardless of their background and culture, feels valued and included. The project aims to show that every culture makes a unique and valuable contribution to society.
Developing Intercultural Awareness: Increasing children’s knowledge and understanding of diverse cultures, languages, traditions, and ways of life. This should lead to open-mindedness and a greater ability to live harmoniously in a multicultural society.
Fostering empathy and solidarity: Teaching empathy by sharing the experiences of people from different cultures. The project hopes to develop in children an awareness of others’ realities and a willingness to support inclusion and equality.
Strengthening social skills: Through teamwork and group activities, encourage social skills such as communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution. These skills are essential for successful integration and for building communities that respect diversity.
3. The Project in Detail
The “Saveurs du Monde” project is a unique educational initiative, scheduled to take place over two days in a venue rented by the Biriba’s Capoeira association. Designed for young people ages 5 to 15, this weekend program aims to offer children and teenagers a deep immersion in global cultural diversity. Through a series of educational and fun activities, the project aims to build bridges between young people from diverse backgrounds and promote mutual understanding and respect for diversity. Each day of the program is dedicated to a different region of the world, allowing participants to travel across continents.
The activities, designed to be both informative and interactive, include cooking workshops where children learn to prepare traditional dishes, dance and music sessions to explore traditional artistic expressions, as well as visual arts workshops inspired by the history and cultural motifs of each region studied.
The goal is to create an immersive experience that fully engages children’s senses. By sampling cuisine from another country, learning traditional dance steps, or listening to stories and music, participants develop a deep appreciation for the cultures that make up our world. In addition, educational games and cultural quizzes are planned to make learning both fun and memorable, thereby encouraging active participation. Particular emphasis is placed on children’s interaction and involvement in the learning process. The workshops are designed to be spaces for free expression where children can ask questions, share their own experiences and reflections, and thus contribute to an enriching dialogue. This format aims to encourage children’s natural curiosity and motivate them to learn from one another in a spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect.
The team behind “Saveurs du Monde” includes educators, artists, and chefs who specialize in the cultural traditions they represent, thereby ensuring the authenticity and quality of the experiences offered. By collaborating with professionals passionate about sharing their culture, the project ensures that each workshop serves as a window to the world, offering new and enriching perspectives.
In short, “Saveurs du Monde” aspires to be more than just a week of discovery; it aims to be a journey of discovery into the heart of cultural diversity. By emphasizing exchange, active learning, and discovery, the project aims to foster in young participants a global awareness and open-mindedness that will stay with them throughout their lives.
