This proposal was not selected because:

Hello,

Thank you for contributing to the Suggestion Box.

This idea was not selected because plastic bottle recycling already exists in Switzerland. PET bottles, along with other plastic packaging, have been recycled for several years. They can be returned to stores or dropped off at recycling centers to be processed and used to manufacture new packaging.

Regarding your proposal to offer gift cards in exchange for bottles, this falls under the responsibility of the stores. The City is therefore unable to comment on this initiative.

Thank you for your understanding and your commitment to the planet.

Best regards,

Recycling machine, in exchange for consumer vouchers

Avatar: Chebel Fatma Chebel Fatma

Not selected

Each Swiss person generates kg of waste every year, including a few kg of products that are still in their packaging. In response to this environmental problem, this consumer-friendly initiative could be rolled out in supermarkets. Install plastic recycling machines

These machines collect plastic bottles from consumers, who can in turn receive gift cards or have the collected funds donated to nonprofit organizations.

This machine collects, crushes, and sorts plastic bottles to turn them into flakes ready for recycling. In other words, the collected flakes will be used to make new bottles. Its concept is based on the deposit-return system: for each bottle returned, the consumer receives 1 to 2 centimes, which they can redeem as gift cards or donate to a nonprofit organization.

Win-Win

We must think about our planet🌍🌍🌍
