We have a highly effective internal application that tracks all graffiti tags across the entire municipal territory on a daily basis. This enables comprehensive monitoring and efficient management. If we were to open this system to the public, it would result in duplicate reports, leading to confusion and a significant increase in workload.

App for Reporting Vandalism/Graffiti

Avatar: Douglas McAlbert Douglas McAlbert

Not selected

1. Context:

Mobile app (Android/iOS) for reporting damage, vandalism, graffiti, and other issues. This allows cleaning services to respond as quickly as possible. The app could be expanded for other uses, such as reporting a problem on the road (e.g., poor road surface condition).

--------------------

2. Proposal:

The app would allow users to send an alert—including geolocation data and, if desired, photos—to the appropriate department so that it can take action. This is particularly useful for removing the numerous unauthorized posters and/or activist graffiti that dot the city.

Note that solutions already exist (e.g., Vandaltrak).

--------------------

3. Motivation:

The city must remain clean and welcoming. According to the “broken windows” theory, minor acts of vandalism in public spaces inevitably lead to a more widespread deterioration of living environments and the human conditions associated with them. (Wikipedia definition). Therefore, taking early action is beneficial.
