This proposal was not selected because:

Hello,

Thank you for your contribution.

This idea was not selected because, on a promenade the size of La Brouette, the Parks and Public Spaces Department prefers to limit the number of collection points. A 1,000-liter Lift trash can is already located at the park entrance, allowing visitors to easily dispose of their trash there when they leave the promenade.

Experience shows that it is not the number of trash cans that ensures cleanliness, but rather the behavior of users. Regular inspections are conducted by our park maintenance staff, and any violation of the rules is penalized.

Best regards,

The “Boîte à idées” Team.

Installation of a Trash Can Near the Picnic Table at Parc de La Brouette

1. Context:

La Brouette Park is a space cherished by residents for its recreational areas. However, it is regrettable to note that the park’s cleanliness—particularly around the picnic table—often leaves much to be desired. Every day when I pass by this spot, I notice trash left on the table and on the ground, which tarnishes the image of this beautiful space. It is inconceivable that this place should be left in such a state after use. It is therefore necessary to take simple but effective measures to improve the situation.

2. Proposal:

I propose installing a trash can right next to the picnic table in Parc de La Brouette. This step, though modest, would make it easier for visitors to dispose of trash and help keep the park clean. It’s possible that some people aren’t sufficiently aware of the importance of keeping public spaces clean or mistakenly believe that failing to follow cleanliness rules is a form of freedom. However, by providing them with an easy way to dispose of their trash, we reduce excuses and encourage more environmentally responsible behavior.

3. Motivation:

It is essential that the City of Lausanne consider this proposal because it aims to directly improve the condition of La Brouette Park. By installing a trash can near the picnic table, we are offering a concrete solution to encourage visitors to keep this space clean. This would benefit all park visitors while preserving the beauty of this place, which is an integral part of the quality of life for Lausanne residents. A simple trash can can have a significant and visible short-term impact on the park’s cleanliness and overall atmosphere.
