To round out its offerings, the “Le Terrier” association (the “Les Petits Apprentis Sages” preschool and “Découvertes Nature”) would like to offer an activity for 1P students who are not in school in the afternoon.

A child educator specializing in sports will lead two-hour workshops. During this time, children will enjoy a variety of activities to help them become more aware of their bodies, get some exercise, test their limits, and develop a love of movement. In groups, they’ll learn to recognize their emotions, name them, and find resources related to them. By working together in groups, we’ll also foster a sense of community and sharing. Given the neighborhood’s sociocultural context, there will also be a focus on French. This is intended to support the children’s integration into school and promote greater equality of opportunity. In addition, a healthy snack will be provided during the afternoon.

The Le Terrier association is located in the Pontaise Community Center and offers a preschool program for children aged 2½ through school entry.

In everyday life, we recognize the importance of socialization among children and of learning French. As in many childcare centers, there are long waiting lists for parents, and some children start school without having had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the French language.

Sports afternoons allow children who need this opportunity to get together and improve their skills as a group. They also give parents some time to themselves and the chance to connect with a child development professional.

Additional Information

Location: La Pontaise Neighborhood Center, Lausanne.

Target Audience: First-grade students

Schedule: Monday afternoons, for 2 hours, with a snack break, excluding school holidays—38 sessions per year. Starting in January 2023.

Your Request

To launch the project, the grant will make it possible to reduce the monthly fee to 50 CHF instead of 80 CHF. This will also make sports activities accessible to a broad segment of the population, thereby promoting health.

This will provide the necessary funding to launch the initiative in January 2023.
