"Health Promotion: Raising Awareness About the Gut Microbiome Among Families in Lausanne"

I’d like to propose a project to help people learn about the gut microbiome. The good bacteria that make up the gut microbiome do a phenomenal job of keeping us healthy

Project Partners: Lausanne Market, Neighborhood Centers, and Recreation Centers

Full Description: I am a certified aromatherapist. As a therapist, I consider health promotion to be part of my work.  I am passionate about the gut microbiome. Unfortunately, very few people are aware of the existence and role of the gut microbiome. Each of us should aim to enrich and diversify our gut microbiome. This is one of the keys to good health. Fruits and vegetables are the best foods to help achieve this goal. So I’ve written a flyer for adults and a story to introduce children to the gut microbiome. As part of the project, 2,000 flyers will be distributed in Lausanne, 1,000 of which will be made available at community centers and recreation centers, as well as on farms, in stores, and at neighborhood grocery stores. My children and I will distribute 1,000 copies at the Lausanne market on Place de la Palud, two Saturdays a month for six months (March, April, May, June, September, and October 2023). The flyer will be offered primarily to families. It will be an opportunity to discuss it with them. I love the Lausanne market, and I go there every Saturday. The beauty of the colors and the diversity of what nature offers us are truly enriching. Not only do I buy my fruits and vegetables there, but I also spend an hour of pleasure and joy savoring the beauty of each stall. The Lausanne market is the ideal place to distribute the flyer and encourage people to eat more fruits and vegetables.

Roundtable for families to discuss the gut microbiome and how to get children to eat vegetables

During the roundtable discussion, a professor from the University of Lausanne will briefly introduce the gut microbiome to families and answer their questions. Then we’ll discuss how to teach children to enjoy eating fruits and vegetables. I have two children, ages 10 and 12. Over the years, I’ve developed various techniques to help my children enjoy eating fruits and vegetables. I’ll share these with other parents to make this challenging task a little easier for them.

Each parent will also be free to share their experiences on the topic, and we’ll discuss them together. Children are welcome.

A table filled with beautiful seasonal fruits and vegetables from the farm—lovingly arranged by me—will be available for children and their parents. The children’s story “And You, Have You Fed Your Pets Today?” that I wrote will be given to each family at the end of the roundtable discussion.
