Short Description
A project aimed at providing evening and/or weekend childcare for families who cannot afford it
Target Audience
All families in Lausanne living in financial precariousness
Your Project in Detail
It is regrettable that, in 2024, middle-class families in Switzerland no longer have the budget to afford childcare. As a result, we have emotionally overwhelmed families, couples who can no longer spend time alone together, and children who are suffering from this emotional strain. To support families facing financial hardship, the “À l’uni-sens” association has launched a free childcare program. To ensure childcare that parents can trust, the association has turned exclusively to early childhood educators who are either already certified or currently in training. Since the “À l’uni-sens” association is new and has limited financial resources, we are, unfortunately, unable to offer compensation to those wishing to contribute to this project. We therefore recognize the challenge of finding volunteers. Thanks to the City of Lausanne and a budget of CHF 3,000, we would be able to pay each educator CHF 50 per childcare session (maximum duration of 3 hours). We already have a small network connected to other projects run by our association that helps us select families eligible for this program. Social support networks and services provided by the City of Lausanne could help us easily expand our search. We will then prioritize geographical proximity between the available caregiver and the family in need of childcare. We will listen to each family’s specific needs and allocate childcare sessions accordingly. In this way, we could offer about twenty families two or three childcare sessions over the coming months and/or up to sixty different childcare sessions. Finally, if this project is successful, we would also be able to offer photo shoots (we already have a photographer) to these same families and even host the children in gyms for free afternoons of play! www.alunisens.com
