LGBTQI+ seniors and their families
Your Project in Detail
LGBTQI+ seniors face unique challenges: isolation, discrimination, and rejection by loved ones and/or institutions. As they age, these individuals find themselves in an environment where they cannot be themselves. Our project aims to change that! We want to provide an inclusive and safe living space where everyone can age with peace of mind, without fear of judgment or marginalization. This place will not only be a home but also a supportive community where residents can benefit from personalized support, services tailored to their needs, and, above all, a caring environment. Our goal is twofold: 1. To collaborate with existing organizations to ensure that our services complement those currently offered in Lausanne. 2. To combat isolation by creating a place where every LGBTQI+ senior is respected and valued—for example, by establishing clusters within institutions or protected housing complexes, or even dedicated shared living arrangements, and why not intergenerational ones as well? With the name Maison Arc-en-ciel, we aim to symbolize a space where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can live with dignity and authenticity. These housing options will offer a quality of life tailored to the evolving needs of seniors while promoting independence. Why Lausanne? Because it is an open city, committed to inclusion. Lausanne’s cultural and social diversity makes it possible to develop innovative initiatives that address the specific needs of communities that are often marginalized. This Maison Arc-en-ciel project could very well fit into the plans for the future Prés de Vidy eco-neighborhood. We firmly believe that housing where LGBTQI+ seniors can live peacefully, surrounded by a supportive community, is essential for their well-being and enables their integration and participation in neighborhood and city life. This project is a concrete response to a growing demand for protected and inclusive housing and aligns perfectly with the cantonal Vieillir2030 strategy. We are committed to working in tandem with existing structures and invite everyone who shares our values to support this initiative and help create a peaceful living environment for LGBTQI+ seniors in Lausanne.
