Your Project in Detail
Every year for the past five years, we have organized an event dedicated to women’s rights and to fostering camaraderie and sisterhood among women who practice capoeira, in collaboration with the Prélaz-Valency socio-cultural center: the title means “She plays (capoeira)” in Portuguese. In March 2025, it will be the third time we open our doors to capoeira practitioners for several capoeira workshops and rodas led by female capoeira instructors. During “ELA JOGA 2025,” we would also like to engage the people of Lausanne—especially those in the Prélaz neighborhood—in a positive and creative dialogue on the themes of women’s rights and empowerment.

Scheduled Events
Friday, March 7: Lecture and discussion on the role of women in Capoeira and the various roles they play within an association. Hands-on Workshop Saturday, March 8: Capoeira workshops and other cultural and physical activities with our special guests: Mestra Voltagrande, Mestra Tartaruga, and Formanda Pressinha, three Brazilian professionals in the field. Classes for capoeiristas and for parents and children who are students of the association Sunday, March 9: “Café com elas” brunch for participants Warm-up, workshop, and final roda
