Creative Workshops in Montelly

Avatar: MontellyVit! MontellyVit!

Your Project

  • The project aims to organize and facilitate creative workshops for children ages 6 to 12 in the Montelly neighborhood, led by an art therapist.

Project Leaders:

  • Ania Lopez-Bloch, art therapist

  • Montelly Vit! Association

Summary of Your Project

The project involves organizing and facilitating eight creative workshops from March through November 2023, each accommodating up to eight participants.

During these free workshops, various mediums will be used to allow children to engage in multisensory experiences and produce a variety of creative works. Media connected to nature and the current seasons will be prioritized to foster a connection with the neighborhood’s natural spaces and to spark initial reflections on the concepts of nature and culture.

The SCHL provides a space for children’s groups at its building at 36 Montelly.

The Montelly neighborhood is characterized by great social and cultural diversity. It is important to provide meeting places that foster sociocultural cohesion and highlight everyone’s strengths.

With the densification of the neighborhood and the construction of new housing, a large number of families have moved in over the past five years. These families rarely visit traditional cultural institutions, and the children do not have access to extracurricular activities such as music lessons or other artistic pursuits.

In the neighborhood, programs for families are geared toward families with young children (parent-child drop-in sessions, “Osons les livres” activities, parent-child meeting places, etc.)

This project complements the current offerings and provides access to art and creativity, while promoting social cohesion, citizen participation, and cultural exchange.

The proposed partners for this project are as follows. Some have already been contacted; others will be contacted as soon as all the necessary funding has been secured:
