Thank you for your participation! Your suggestions were reviewed and then submitted to City Hall. The name ultimately chosen for this square is: Place Buissonnière. It refers to the theme of greenery, which is prominent in the neighborhood, and to the theme of the school located next to the square.
The name was unveiled during the official inauguration ceremony for the streets, the schoolyard, and the central square on September 26, 2025.

The square located in the heart of the Plaines-du-Loup neighborhood will be a major public space and a cornerstone of social life within the neighborhood—and it’s looking for a name! To name it, a call for ideas has been launched among local residents.
Why?
The neighborhood’s pedestrian streets have already been named after women who have left their mark on the city’s history. But the neighborhood’s central square—which also serves as the schoolyard—does not yet have a name.
Who can participate?
Residents and users of the neighborhood are invited to share their opinions.
How can you participate?
Come up with a name, following the rules below.
Submit your ideas via the form. A maximum of three suggestions per person.
A few rules to follow when suggesting names:
No names based on male figures: Since the neighborhood’s pedestrian streets are named after female figures, naming the central square after a male figure could send a contradictory message. In fact, this could imply that the central square, as a strategic and visible element of the urban space, is associated with men, while the peripheral pedestrian streets, which are less central, could be associated with women.
No compound names: for the sake of simplicity and to make the square’s name easier to remember and identify. This would also create a contrast with street names—which are long and derived from proper names—and reinforce the square’s impact as a distinctive feature of the urban landscape.
No names based on living people or those who have been deceased for less than 5 years
No names longer than 15 characters
No prepositions (such as “au,” “en,” “à,” etc.): these can cause problems when searching street directories.
No commercial names: names of companies and their products should be avoided.
