Give us our money back

Avatar: Droitdelhomista Gauchiasse Droitdelhomista Gauchiasse

In order to enable citizens to live better in Lausanne, it would indeed be preferable to return the excess money that taxpayers pay for projects that are not the responsibility of the municipality. In fact, aside from bike paths that are almost always empty, playgrounds for drug addicts, and facilities for injecting and smoking crack, there isn’t much left for the average citizen who pays taxes to support an army of welfare recipients.

For my project, the following is required:

  • Divide the amount you have allocated by the number of taxpayers.

  • Return the money to every taxpayer.

This will help revitalize local businesses, which have been suffering from the situation you have forced upon them for years. Subsequently, Lausanne will be able to make this model sustainable by stopping subsidies for the following areas:

  • Culture

Vidy Theater

Lausanne Opera

Lausanne Chamber Orchestra (OCL)

Lausanne Sinfonietta

Arsenic

Fondation de l'Hermitage

Art Brut Collection

Kléber-Méleau Theater

Various associations in Lausanne carrying out projects in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Indeed, it is not the role of the city of Lausanne to subsidize the entire world when the economic situation of Lausanne taxpayers is far from being the best in Switzerland.

In 2025, the City of Lausanne allocated 625,000 CHF to its international solidarity budget. Is this really the role of a municipality?

Instead of always coddling the drug addicts and the down-and-outs of the city, Lausanne should realize that what keeps it alive are the people who spend their money at local businesses. And to achieve that, the city needs to become more attractive to those who want to shop in Lausanne.

Thank you for publishing my project, which I am sure will be hotly debated among the residents of Lausanne.
