2. Your Project in Two Lines
The first podcast that gives a voice to the men who are part of feminists’ lives (spouses, brothers, fathers, sons, etc.)! A conversation hosted by Sonia Benarab to explore gender dynamics in a relaxed and humorous way. This project, in line with the values of inclusivity and diversity that are so important to Lausanne, aims to strengthen bonds between genders and encourage better coexistence in the region.
3. The goal of your project
The podcast aims to further include men in the feminist cause by showing them that it concerns them just as much as it does women. The goal is to encourage their involvement by exploring personal and authentic perspectives, while debunking common misconceptions about feminism. This project also aims to restore the word “feminism” to its rightful place by highlighting its diversity: a multifaceted concept shaped by each individual’s experiences and interpretations. By helping both men and women reconnect with this word and this ideology, the podcast aims to build bridges so we can live together more harmoniously. The goal is to foster an inclusive and nuanced dialogue and to shed new light on a topic that is sometimes misunderstood and very often polarizing.
4. Your Project in Detail
“What the F*minism” is a monthly podcast that invites men (fathers, brothers, partners, sons, etc.) who are involved in some way in the lives of feminists and/or who have been influenced by them to share their perspective on feminism. Because behind every “deconstructed” man or feminist lies a woman and/or a feminist. The podcast begins with a profile of the feminist in question, followed by a conversation about feminism with the man in her life. The feminist will join the conversation to wrap up the episode. The idea is to film half of the podcasts at iconic locations in Lausanne and invite an audience that can also ask questions of the host and/or the interviewees in order to participate in the conversation and engage with the topic. “What the F*minism” explores the full spectrum of feminism; in this sense, it includes all women or people who identify as feminists and who embrace feminist ideologies and/or actions in their daily lives. The podcast is hosted by Sonia Benarab, a 37-year-old filmmaker and journalist born in Tunisia who grew up in Lausanne and holds dual citizenship. Her professional and personal experiences in London, where she lived for six years, as well as her degree in communications from Éracom in Lausanne, make her an experienced and committed host. As a participant on the RTS program *Temps présent* (“The Battle of the Sexes”) and a feminist activist, Sonia will bring a multicultural perspective and a structured framework to the conversation, where each guest feels free to express themselves. Main objective: To create a space for dialogue to reduce misunderstandings between the genders, promote equality, support women and men in their empowerment, and thereby inspire better coexistence.
