2. Your Project in Two Lines
Let’s transform the paved playground at the École des Petits Cailloux in Praz-Séchaud into a natural, educational space that fosters sharing.
3. The goal of your project
To create a green schoolyard that promotes well-being, community, and outdoor learning. To actively involve children and the neighborhood in this ecological and participatory initiative.
4. Your project in detail
This project aims to reinvent the playground at the Petits Cailloux middle school, which is part of the Coteau-Fleuri public school system (but managed by CPCL, a project partner). The playground is dilapidated and lacks vegetation and play areas. The goal is to transform the space into a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive place. This will meet the children’s needs while strengthening bonds within the community. Green areas rich in biodiversity (trees, native shrubs, gardens, flower-filled meadows, and a large bee hotel), play areas made of natural materials to stimulate motor skills, as well as tables and benches to encourage sharing and social interaction will be created. The “Paysage éducatif de Coteau-Fleuri” is the association leading the project. Children will actively participate in the design, planting, and maintenance of these spaces. This educational project will allow them to discover ecology in a hands-on way and develop their sense of environmental responsibility. Teachers will incorporate these new features into their lessons—particularly in science and physical education—while fostering positive social interactions. This participatory project also involves parents and neighborhood residents through collaborative work projects and awareness-raising events. In addition to providing a safer and more welcoming environment, this playground will promote children’s physical and mental well-being. It will also strengthen neighborhood bonds and help combat the urban heat island effect. Support us in making the Petits Cailloux playground an inspiring example of community living and biodiversity in the heart of Lausanne!
