The Rêve Showcase

1. Your project in two lines:
Rent a storefront and bring it to life with artistic projects by Lausanne residents.
2. The objective of your project (explain its purpose and how it will benefit one or more neighborhoods)
This project aims to provide a platform for creative Lausanne residents to express their artistic vision. By providing them with a storefront in a public space as well as financial support, we offer them an opportunity to experiment and showcase their work. At the same time, we hope to enchant the city with the installations that will fill the display window and offer a touch of poetry to passersby. We envision this display as a dreamlike respite and a moment of wonder amid the commercial storefronts that dot the city. This repurposing of a commercial storefront—which will involve the use of sustainable materials—also aims to draw attention to our use of resources and our awareness of and sensitivity to the world around us.
3. Your Project in Detail
The project consists of two parts: the annual rental of a storefront in the city and a call for creative proposals from Lausanne residents. Depending on the quality of the proposals, we will select between 4 and 6 storefronts to be designed by their creators. The storefront displays will rotate every 2 or 3 months. These projects must include two key elements: inspiring dreams and using sustainable resources. It is important that the approach incorporate this latter concept, which can be achieved through the use of materials that are, for example, recycled, upcycled, or reused. Each new window display could be unveiled by the creator directly to the Lausanne public during an informal opening event. This will be an opportunity for the artist to explain the intent behind their project and to foster dialogue with residents of the neighborhood and beyond.
