This proposal was not selected because:

This project was not selected because a similar project being developed in the same location was submitted, and we do not have a mechanism to distinguish between them without the decision being arbitrary. Since the groups did not wish to join forces, both projects were rejected to ensure a democratic, consensus-based process. Nevertheless, the project leaders were invited to join the participatory process organized by the City’s Parks and Public Spaces Department, during which neighborhood residents were able to share their ideas regarding the development of the Bellefontaine parking lot area.

If you’d like to print the project submission form, you can! Once your project is finalized, you can submit it using the form below. Your project will be made public.

1. Your project in two lines:

Set up a refreshment stand for sunny days (May through October) on the Bellefontaine terrace to bring a lively atmosphere to the Centre, Mousquines, Bellevue, Florimont, and Chissiez neighborhoods and provide activities for children

2. The amount requested to carry out the project (max. CHF 20,000—to be itemized in the budget file, which must be downloaded, completed, and attached as an appendix):

CHF 20,000

3. Details of your project (you can attach images and files later in the process):

La Buvette de La Chouquette will be an extension of La Chouquette’s eco-friendly concept store, which is set to open in late August 2022 at Avenue Rumine 4 – 1005 Lausanne, right next to the Terrasse Bellefontaine. The store will offer artisanal Swiss delicacies, as well as secondhand clothing, toys, and books for children.

La Buvette will offer selected items from the gourmet food store, as well as possibly products from nearby shops (bread from Zymi, focaccia from Il Forno...). All this in a relaxed atmosphere featuring children’s activities and other events (clothing swap, etc.). We’d also like to provide books and toys for children—perhaps in collaboration with a local toy library or public library.

We’ve lived in the neighborhood with our children since 2017, and we’re convinced that a place like this will be greatly appreciated

4. The objective of your project (explain its purpose and how it will benefit one or more neighborhoods):

The Mousquines, Bellevue, Florimont, and Chissiez neighborhoods do not have a community center, a toy library, or a public library. That is why our project is part of a genuine neighborhood initiative and will benefit residents, businesses, and families of all ages in the surrounding area.

In addition, the Bellefontaine Terrace is a small haven of peace right in the city center that is currently underutilized and just waiting to be (re)discovered.

Our approach is part of:

  • Local focus, highlighting regional artisanal products.

  • Ecology, through the use of secondhand furniture, toys, games, and books, as well as returnable containers

  • Social engagement through our commitment to being a vibrant, multigenerational space for interaction open to everyone

  • Solidarity: by making our facilities available to various organizations in Lausanne so they can promote their initiatives and organize events and workshops

5. The exact address of your project, if known, as well as the neighborhood(s) involved:

Terrasse Bellefontaine (above the Bellefontaine Parking Garage) - 1005 Lausanne / The neighborhoods involved are 1003, 1005, and 1006

6. The name of your organization (optional):

You do not need to be part of an organization to submit a project, but there must be at least three of you.

6. Your contact information (required)

Cyrielle & Fabrice Douchant - Rue Etraz 12 - 1003 Lausanne

Caroline Detroux - Avenue de Léman 2 - 1005 Lausanne
