1. The Project in a Nutshell

Giving a second chance—a second life—by restoring two former SWISSCOM phone booths:

• The first one features a specific theme and a history of the neighborhood in the 1018 area.

• The second one has a unique design and is dedicated to bartering items.

2. The Project’s Objective

Give books and objects a second life and a new purpose. Inspire dreams and spark the imagination for new adventures.

3. Project Details

We want to repurpose the two phone booths to create a self-service mini-library, giving books and various everyday objects a new lease on life. Open to everyone, our project aims to promote local exchanges and social connections. We will pay particular attention to:

• for people with disabilities

• people with a migration background (a specific section for foreign languages)

• children

• support materials and signage on the two visible and distinctive booths

• red and white exterior branding as a nod to the colors of the City of Lausanne

4. The amount requested to carry out the project

9,000 CHF

• Delivery tricycle, umbrellas, balloons, inflation equipment, flyers, posters, website, and social media: 800 CHF

• Rental of a space, computer, and miscellaneous items: 200 CHF

• Reimbursement for travel and meal expenses: 500 CHF

• Installation and transport of the 2 booths: 6,000 CHF

• Purchase of one of the booths, renovation of both booths: 1,500 CHF
