1. The Project in a Nutshell

You may have already wondered if it’s really possible to tell a ladybug’s age by the number of spots on its back. And where do dragonflies and butterflies live when we don’t see them flying? We’re offering free workshops on biodiversity in the City of Lausanne’s permaculture gardens and parks to help satisfy your curiosity.

2. The Project’s Objective

We believe our project will benefit neighborhoods because it is based on the pooling of resources. Indeed, it will allow other local organizations to benefit from its services and training while improving the flow of people between these organizations. We also hope to collaborate with the City of Lausanne’s departments through an educational program on biodiversity to ensure the long-term impact of our training. By effectively sharing knowledge that is useful to everyone, this project is part of a joint, sustainable initiative for the neighborhoods, involving volunteers.

3. The Project in Detail

Our association aims to promote biodiversity in the city through public education and the creation of educational spaces dedicated to biodiversity that are accessible to the public. We hope to organize educational workshops in the city center and invite you to discover, in particular, the “wild” insects in our cities and how we coexist with them. To integrate the lessons learned from these workshops into the urban landscape and make them accessible to a wider audience, we will explore the development of educational biodiversity spaces linked together in an educational trail throughout the City of Lausanne.

4. The amount requested to carry out the project

12,300 CHF

• Posters, screen printing, website: 500 CHF

• Postal account, phone service, educational materials, miscellaneous supplies: 3,200 CHF

• Volunteer travel, snacks, meals, community activities: 1,500 CHF

• Biodiversity training, trainer travel expenses: 4,500 CHF

• External training, project studies, infrastructure repairs: 2,600 CHF
