Lausanne Participates Charter
The purpose of this “Lausanne participe” charter is to define the principles and values governing contributions to the City of Lausanne’s digital participation platform.
By posting a contribution (message, idea, comment, or proposal), you agree to uphold the values of democracy and public debate, namely:
recognize and respect everyone’s right to hold a different opinion, in a spirit of openness and willingness to listen;
Refrain from making any offensive, racist, or unlawful remarks that violate public order or applicable law;
Support your positions with reasoning to foster a high-quality debate in a constructive spirit.
Any messages, ideas, comments, or proposals posted must comply with applicable laws and respect fundamental rights, and must be part of a constructive effort toward civic debate, exchange, and dialogue. The following are therefore prohibited:
attacks or insinuations based on race, religious beliefs or lack thereof, ethnic origin, gender, or sexual orientation;
insults, harassment, threats, serious unproven or notoriously inaccurate statements concerning individuals or organizations;
any use of the site for advertising or commercial purposes, including classified ads;
any obscene or pornographic messages;
the disclosure of personal data such as addresses or phone numbers, or any personal information that could infringe on privacy;
any hyperlink whose destination could compromise the liability or reputation of the co-organizers of this debate;
the reproduction of texts without citing their source or of content subject to copyright without authorization;
incitement to any unlawful action in general;
any message that is so off-topic as to disrupt the debate.
The Communications Office, in its role as “community manager,” and the departments responsible for participatory initiatives are in charge of moderating the “Lausanne participe” platform. They are the sole judges of the messages received and reserve the right to enforce these rules by removing messages that violate them without prior notice or consent.
You hereby declare that you have read and agree to abide by this charter without restriction or reservation prior to submitting your contribution.
The City of Lausanne is committed to:
consider and treat each contribution equally and objectively;
analyze the feasibility of proposals, as not all of them will necessarily be feasible;
keep participants informed of the follow-up actions taken based on the results of their participation;
report regularly on the progress of the participatory initiatives.
