Context
: A food bank (Calim) helps everyone gain access to the food of their choice. The right to food is indeed a recognized universal right; in reality, however, it can sometimes be difficult to exercise.A Calim allows people to come together and balance resources: it is a universal, solidarity-based fund. Anyone who wishes to can become a member. For it to work well, financial balance must be maintained; in a Calim, members decide together how to achieve this.
From Plow to Plate
: Agriculture and food are interconnected. Without farmers, there would be no food. They are the ones who produce healthy, delicious food. Yet their work is little known and poorly paid.A Calim promotes local production and offers fair prices to farmers. It also helps forge ties between the city and the countryside: in a Calim, you know the people from whom you choose to buy food.
