Your Project in Detail
In Switzerland in 2025, even if a family has a spot in a childcare facility, parents often have no other options in the event of illness or emotional distress. Whether working or studying, single-parent families also often find themselves overwhelmed by their circumstances, and with increasing multiculturalism, many families are also socially isolated because they have no close relatives nearby. Building on our experience in 2025, we wish to renew our request for a grant to provide these families with childcare services provided by childcare professionals; furthermore, we aim to expand this project by involving retired individuals. We aim to find “super substitute grandparents” to provide even more childcare than last year, foster intergenerational bonds, and ensure the sustainability of these childcare arrangements over the long term. The association is committed to meeting with each interested retiree to ensure they are physically and mentally capable of providing childcare and that they have a first-aid certificate and a clean criminal record. The association will also provide educational resources to the individual upon request. We are completely distinct from the “Grands-parents de cœur” project in that we aim to compensate these retirees and want them to provide childcare when the parents are not present. From April 2025 to October 2025, we provided more than 40 days of childcare for 11 different families thanks to the invaluable collaboration of 9 childcare providers.
