About Us

Environmental Observatory, City of Lausanne

Led by the City of Lausanne’s Environment Unit, the pilot project to establish an Environmental Observatory in Lausanne is currently under development. Low-cost sensors to measure noise, air quality, and temperature are currently being tested. One of the objectives of this observatory is to collect highly localized data in order to inform the public about the quality of their environment. The data can also be used to guide and demonstrate the effects of various actions taken by the City to reduce environmental nuisances.

The Test Tube

The UNIL Science and Society Laboratory, L’éprouvette, offers a wide range of educational and hands-on activities to help you understand and explore science. This is a unique opportunity to gain knowledge in an interactive, fun, and hands-on way, enabling you to make informed personal and civic decisions and become an active participant in our society.

The Renens FabLab

What is a Fablab?

FabLabs (a portmanteau of “factory” and “laboratory”) form a global network of digital fabrication workshops. They are spaces for sharing and open access to rapid prototyping technologies where you can make “just about anything.”

What is its role?

The Renens Fablab offers learning through hands-on project work. There, you gain independence with the technologies you learn to master, and you can, in turn, share your knowledge.

Who can join?

Organized as an association, the platform is open and non-profit. Volunteers run the space, making it a workshop unlike any other. Anyone can become a member and participate by bringing their projects, knowledge, and enthusiasm.
