ARTVIV PROJECT

Selected
1. Your project in two lines:
Since June 18, 2022, to promote professional and non-professional social art in order to foster in-depth reflection on societal and ecological issues.
2. The objective of your project (explain its purpose and how it will benefit one or more neighborhoods)
The Bellevaux neighborhood benefits from rich diversity despite its modest economic circumstances; we aim to make artistic expression accessible to the residents of this neighborhood. We are art enthusiasts who firmly believe that artistic expression is a true catalyst for progressive thinking. The first objective is to restore access to personal creativity for everyone. The second objective is to make artistic creation accessible to everyone—without discrimination—through a “solidarity-based” fee structure that transcends socioeconomic, intellectual, cultural, religious, and political norms. We aim to break down the barriers that separate people with modest means from art and creativity. Finally, we bring together not only the residents of Bellevaux but also people from all walks of life and backgrounds through artistic expression. The goal here is to reestablish dialogue among people, to highlight the connection between humanity and nature in order to examine today’s society and define new social values.
3. Your Project in Detail
ARTVIV promotes artistic expression through workshops and art classes open to youth and adults, including: the Eco-Poetry Workshops (writing in support of ecology and biodiversity), the “Mots de Femme” workshops (a poetic initiative dedicated to empowering women to find their voice), and introductory workshops on African instruments (djembe, udu, sanza). Our workshops culminate in live performances (open mic nights) and public readings featuring the participants. ARTVIV also organizes stand-up comedy nights, exhibitions by local, Swiss, and international artists, literary gatherings, and debates related to the values we champion. The principles governing access to the workshops we offer are: - Solidarity-based pricing: when a participant pays the solidarity-based price (as indicated) for a workshop, this allows us to adjust the fee to accommodate individual financial constraints - Workshop subsidies: a workshop funded by a third party (participant, supporter, or grant) for participants with limited financial means Currently, approximately 80% of the venue’s long-term sustainability is funded by private sources (founders), and about 20% by workshops, partnerships, and membership dues. To enable ArtViv to continue expanding its offerings, funding for the organization’s operating costs must be secured from multiple sources.
