An assembly is a group of members of an organization who meet periodically to make decisions regarding a specific area or the scope of the organization.

The assemblies hold meetings; some are private and others are open. If they are open, it is possible to participate (for example: attend if capacity allows, add items to the agenda, or comment on the proposals and decisions made by this body).

Examples: A general assembly (which meets once a year to define the organization’s main areas of focus and elect its executive bodies through a vote), an advisory council on equality (which meets every two months to formulate proposals on how to improve relations between men and women) within the organization), an evaluation committee (which meets monthly to monitor a process), or an ombudsman’s office (which collects reports of incidents, abuses, or suggestions for improving decision-making processes) are all examples of meetings.
