What is the online portal?

An online portal (or “virtual service desk”) brings together all the online services that a public administration offers to its residents. Residents can visit an online portal to easily find the administrative procedures they are looking for. In many cases, the portal also allows them to complete these administrative procedures directly online.

The City of Lausanne has an online portal. It is available at lausanne.ch/ma-page. Anyone can create an account for free.

For example, the City of Lausanne’s portal allows you to:

  • apply for daycare enrollment for your child or for the school cafeteria

  • sign up for the Neighbors’ Day celebration

  • submit a request to have a tree cut down

  • apply for a grant for an electric bike

Compared to a physical service counter, this offers several advantages: it’s available 24 hours a day, accessible from anywhere, and even simplifies certain processes (e.g., forms that fill out automatically).
