3. The Project in Detail

A Repair Café is an event held at a community center—the Maisons Quartier in Lausanne—where residents come together to repair their belongings. We repair clothing, bicycles, household appliances, computer equipment, and cell phones. The Repair Café also features talks and information on the socio-political issues surrounding repair. Eventually, we’ll offer repair technique training workshops throughout the year. As part of our integration efforts, we work with repairers who are also asylum seekers. As a member of the Restart association, we advocate for the right to repair at the European level. Our repairs are recorded on their platform, which highlights the CO2 reductions achieved by extending the lifespan of objects.

Why do we need financial support? To expand our scope of action, have our repair technicians trained by professionals, organize workshops throughout the year, compensate our volunteer repair technicians for their work, and purchase high-quality tools and parts.
