1. The Project in a Nutshell

Propose to 10 different neighborhood associations throughout Lausanne that they bring their residents together during a neighborhood festival for an open-air movie screening.

2. The Project’s Objective

Some neighborhood associations would like to conclude their festivals with an evening film screening, but unfortunately, their limited funds prevent them from organizing such an event. We propose to provide 10 neighborhoods, over the course of 3 years, with a turnkey service to make this evening gathering possible.

3. The Project in Detail

Since its creation three years ago and through four editions of summer film screenings, our association has strived to offer free movies in Lausanne’s parks; the 9-meter-diagonal inflatable screen has truly stood out. Les Toiles de Milan quickly became a fixture in the summer cultural program and has expanded to other parks in the city, notably the Hermitage. Neighborhood associations enjoy organizing at least one festive evening each year. Some would like to wrap up their day with a film that brings people together. Unfortunately, copyright fees and the cost of setting up a screening structure—even a temporary and relatively lightweight one—often prevent these associations, with their limited budgets, from being able to organize such an event. We want to offer them this “turnkey” event. Specifically, we propose to host 10 evenings between 2021 and 2023, with a maximum of 4 per year. We have all the necessary projection equipment and will cover the copyright fees, which are often 500.- per film. We will prioritize requests based on projects from neighborhood associations that propose a movie screening that makes sense and serves as a fitting finale to their evenings.

4. The amount requested to carry out the project

20,000 CHF

• Purchase of an inflatable screen, projector, stereo system, and electrical equipment: 13,400 CHF

• Vehicle rental, copyright fees, projection equipment: 6,400 CHF

• Miscellaneous and unforeseen expenses: 200 CHF
