1. The project in a nutshell

We propose using the concept of “Urban Knitting” by using colorful knitted or crocheted yarn to decorate Avenue de la Harpe for a specific period of time.

2. The Project’s Objective

First and foremost, we want to create a friendly and creative experience that’s open to everyone. We know from experience that knitting has powerful therapeutic and social benefits, helping to build connections and foster solidarity. The project will then allow us to beautify the neighborhood and add a touch of wonder and curiosity—to “wake it up.” Bringing generations together—knitting isn’t just for grandmas, and graffiti isn’t just for young people.

3. The Project in Detail

We propose using the “Urban Knitting” concept by using colorful knitted or crocheted yarn to decorate, for a specific period (ideally between September and March, during the “darkest” months of the year), Avenue de la Harpe (streetlights, poles, bollards, bike racks, stairs, benches, trees, etc.) for a set period (ideally between September and March, during the “darkest” months of the year) to make it feel less impersonal and linear, and to encourage us to see it as an enjoyable space that will elicit reactions—such as smiles and emotions—from passersby. It’s a street heavily frequented by families and tourists, so our project will help make their daily lives more lively, colorful, and whimsical.
