1. The project in a nutshell

A space for discussion and integration centered on food.

2. The Project’s Objective

Promoting social cohesion in the heart of Lausanne. “L’autre midi” will bring together and foster connections among residents of downtown Lausanne, migrants in vocational training programs, visitors to Pôle Sud, and downtown shoppers in a welcoming space for interaction and discussion.

Develop a one-of-a-kind training program enabling a group of aspiring chefs from diverse backgrounds to provide a weekly community meal at Pôle Sud.

3. The Project in Detail

The association La Bourse à Travail wishes to launch a new project bringing together migrants and Pôle Sud users around community-based, participatory meals.
This project aims to:
• Offer vocational training. Trainees will complete a 12-week training program led by a head chef
• Provide an initial work experience in the restaurant industry. Trainees will work one day a week in a professional setting to prepare a menu sold to the public at an affordable price.
• Build connections and foster a sense of community. As a place for camaraderie, interaction, and discussion, the Friday community meals will be open to all Pôle Sud users. They will provide an opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds to meet and will promote social cohesion.

4. The amount requested to carry out the project

15,000 CHF

• Operating Costs: 8,430 CHF

• Communication costs: 500 CHF

• Personnel costs: 6,070 CHF
