1. The project in a nutshell

Promote responsible citizenship and social cohesion in the Faverges neighborhood through initiatives to raise awareness of climate issues by engaging residents, local institutions, and associations according to their areas of expertise.

2. The Project’s Objective

The “Le Léman Vert” residents’ collective is already in contact with the Faverges community center, the St. Jacques parish, the Association for the Preservation of Lake Geneva, and the Parks and Public Lands Department, and hopes to expand its collaboration with schools, APEMS, the daycare center, and other community organizations in the neighborhood.

3. The Project in Detail

To put our plans into action, we are planning the following series of activities: - Waste collection along the Vuachère River twice a year (the first event already took place on March 31, and a second is scheduled for September). - Organization of events for children and teens, evening gatherings, and discussions with external or internal speakers under the name “Climate Café” at the Maison de quartier des Faverges. An event for local youth took place on March 29, 2019. Following the trash cleanup, the first “Café Climatique” (a debate open to the public) will take place on May 3, 2019. - Screenings of films and performances related to the environment (in collaboration with the City Club cinema in Pully) - Organization of “do-it-yourself” workshops (household products and cosmetics, seasonal cooking, etc.). - Construction and installation of insect hotels in the neighborhood. - Construction and installation of planters in public gathering places and high-traffic areas throughout the neighborhood. - Development of a permaculture garden at the Maison de Quartier des Faverges starting in spring 2020. - Clothing and toy swap. - Creation, launch, and hosting of a website, www.lelemanvert.ch, to publicize planned activities. - Promoting activities: via Facebook, Instagram, our website lelemanvert.ch, the Community Center, schools (in Léman and Chissiez), the Zigzagzoug daycare center, the St-Jacques Parish, and word of mouth. - Running information booths at neighborhood events. Our goal is to offer activities for free or for a nominal fee to make them more accessible./p>

4. The amount requested to carry out the project

13,330 CHF

• Website, flyers, and signs: 1,200 CHF

• Operating costs, planters and garden supplies, workshop materials, snacks/meals: 7,330 CHF

• Personnel costs: 4,400 CHF

• Other expenses: 400 CHF
