An Overview of the Areas: Three Sectors and Themes

Avatar: Riponne Tunnel Riponne Tunnel

Three areas can be identified based on the content gathered during the workshops and discussions (children + youth):

  • Place de la Riponne,

  • L’Entre-deux (Rue des Deux-Marchés and Rue du Tunnel),

  • Place du Tunnel and the surrounding area (Rue de la Borde, Place du Nord).

Recurring key themes emerge within these sectors and are grouped together as “themes” to provide an overview of how they are currently represented in the imagination of the young audience.

Thus, just like the enormous Palais de Rumine or the Tunnel, a number of details and subtle observations characterize the way children and young people view these places and their relationship to them: the pliers embedded in the concrete, the paving, the plants in the tunnel, and even the kiosks and food trucks.

Through this content, we notice that certain “themes” recur and reflect the current daily reality of these places: crosswalks, parking lots, empty spaces, and even the presence or absence of color.

A visual overview, in the form of a matrix organized by sectors and themes, allows users to explore the area as seen through the eyes of young people, from La Riponne to the Tunnel, passing through Rue des Deux-Marchés and Rue du Tunnel and their surrounding areas. What can be found there? And what role does each of these elements play in this matrix?

This geographical analysis thus provides a framework for presenting the content generated by the workshops and discussions led by “Ville en tête” in the run-up to the Riponne-Tunnel Weekend.
